Raft Fishing Frame Package
Our raft fishing frame package comes ready to go with a 4-bay frame, front and rear solid floors, and anchor system. The raft frame is custom built to fit your boat dimensions, not one size fits all.
Fishing frame package includes:
Mad Cow Metal Works 4-Bay Raft Frame
Mad Cow Metal Works 4-bay raft frames were originally designed to be flown into remote roadless areas so our frames come apart by pulling 4 pins. This design is so well liked that we make only take down frames, which is really nice when no trailer is available for transporting and storage space at home is scarce. Our raft frames include plenty of cutouts on the sides for securing your extra oar and tying your frame down to your raft and your raft down to your trailer. Frames also include slots down the middle of the diamond plate for attaching our personal boxes–Molly box and Hollywood box with fishing tray. Our 1/8” diamond plate provides very good traction and stability and great place for kids and dogs to hang out. Smooth deck plate is also available. We use 1-1/4” aluminum pipe for all of our work, nominal od is 1-5/8”. Oar towers are included and a footbar is included, if desired.
Solid Front Floor
Front solid floor with white-water bar and fishing lean bar. The white-water bar takes the place of the fishing lean bar to secure the front of the floor to the raft when the lean bar is not being used. We’ve tried a strap to hold up the front of the floor but it is not nearly as sturdy as an “aluminum bar”. The floor is 1/8” diamond plate and is super sturdy when standing and fishing.
Solid Rear Floor
Rear solid floor is tied to the frame and anchor system and has a hinged trap door so you can access your floor air valves. This setup requires a lot of extra work but is well worth it, especially if you have small children or dogs in your boat eliminating foot entrapment, cuts and abrasions due to large open cutouts in the floor. The trap door gives substantial room for your hand to open and close valves and secure your pump. The floor is 1/8” diamond plate and provides good traction and stability.
Anchor System
Our raft frame anchor system is designed to minimize risk of entanglement and entrapment. The anchor line is fed under the frame and thru the pipe framing in the rear which keeps the anchor rope out of the way – keeping dogs, children, family and friends safe from getting tangled in the rope. And for folks that fish, one less thing to snag your hook on!
Our anchor systems include the rear swivel “quick disconnect” seat base and “Tempress All-Weather High Back seat”. We stock the Blue/Gray seat, other colors may be available to order.
Our aluminum pulley box is machined for each individual boat’s measurements, one size does not fit all. The size is mainly determined by the second bay width where the cooler generally goes. It may also be able to be put in the captain’s bay (depending on if there are captain’s boxes in that bay or not), however offers better pulling leverage in the second bay.
The back of the boat (stern) needs to have in and out “D” rings to attach our custom-designed seat base (machined in our shop). The seat base and anchor bars are held to the frame with these D rings, the front of the anchor bars go through frame sliders which are attached to the rear of the frame but the sliders/anchor bars are allowed to pivot up and down as you go through white water or bump into rocks so the anchor system is free to articulate on its own as needed without you feeling the results of these bumps in the frame.
Additional information:
- We set up the bottom of our floors to be a minimum of 1 1/2-2” off of the raft floor which usually gives enough clearance when rolling over rocks.
- We do need to have your raft in the shop in order to manufacturer the anchor system for you (we bend the aluminum pipe to follow the curves of your raft).

Items not included in this package are the boat, aluminum boxes, coolers, oar locks, anchor and anchor rope.
